The Centre for Biological Applications of Mass Spectrometry (CBAMS) at Concordia University is a state-of-the-art facility that provides core services in all areas of biological mass spectrometry to internal and external researchers.

Concordia University has over 40,000 undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students who study in the bilingual and multicultural environment of Montreal. Concordia is comprised of two campuses—the Sir George Williams campus, located in downtown Montreal, and the Loyola campus, located in the Montreal streetcar suburb of Notre-Dame-de-Grace—with distinct personalities. CBAMS is housed in the Richard J. Renaud Science Complex (shown at left) on the Loyola Campus. Although the two campuses are separated by 7km, a shuttle bus connects them both, and students, faculty, and staff routinely travel between campuses during the day.

As we strive to advance the use of mass spectrometry in the biological sciences, CBAMS is proud to provide students with hands-on training and access to the instruments. Unlike many other mass spectrometry facilities, our facility is mainly student-operated, and each year it serves as the site for graduate and undergraduate courses in mass spectrometry.
